The 31-year-old has been in outstanding form for the Premier League champions-elect and has become an integral part of England manager Roy Hodgson's plans.
Carrick has assisted the likes of Manchester United trio Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez by moving the ball forward 1534 times.
The Geordie is finally being recognised as one of the best midfielders in the country and has been rightfully shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year awards.
Carrick has claimed a modest four assists in the league, but has helped to set up attacks with fluent, pin-point passing from a deep-lying playmaker role.
The former Tottenham midfielder's closest rival for the best forward passer title is Arsenal's is Mikel Arteta who has made 158 fewer attacking passes than the Manchester United schemer.
Next on the list is Arteta's compatriot Xavi. The Barcelona midfielder's addition to the list comes as no surprise as he known for being one of the best passers in world football.
Defenders Dante, Aurelien Chedjou and Leonardo Bonucci are the only non-midfielders to make the list.
Italian veteran Andrea Pirlo, Manchester City powerhouse Yaya Toure and Arsenal's Santi Cazorla also feature in the top 10 best forward passers list.
