Edinson Cavani, Radamel Falcao and Luis Suarez are among the top forwards in the world at the momen

We take a look at the ten most desirable strikers in world football at the moment. This analysis is based on goals, assists, ability the lead the line and to change games in their team's favour.
Bearing in mind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar are predominantly wingers, they will not be included in the selection. They are judged on their natural position, which makes it even more interesting for viewers.
Robin van Persie | Manchester United & Netherlands
The flying Dutchman has been a goal-scoring phenomenon over the past few seasons and this season again suggests he is one of the world’s finest. He has the ability to finish from any positions and his match winning free-kick against Manchester City started to turn the advantage in United's favour.
He has scored 22 league goals this season and even suffered a nine-game goal drought in the process. He is one of the sharpest marksmen on the planet with a wand of a leg foot.
Radamel Falcao | Atletico Madrid & Columbia
He was selected in the FIFA Team of the Year 2012 after an excellent first season in Spain. He is known as the king of the Europa League after winning two successive titles and leading the scoring charts in the process.
He is a natural born scorer and he can finish with both feet and his heading ability is arguably the best in the world at present. He's a deadly striker who has netted 89 times in 111 league appearances.
Mario Mandzukic | Bayern Munich & Croatia
He has had a very impressive season after making his transfer across Germany from VFL Wolfsburg. His performance at Euro 2012 earned his move as he proved he can play on the big stage. His signing looked to be a gamble but his scintillating displays have announced him as one of the best strikers in the world.
He has scored 15 goals in 21 appearances in the Bundesliga and keeps out the prolific Mario Gomez from a starting place. It's more than his goals that ranks him so highly; his link up play and unselfishness to put the team first makes him so important to the way Bayern attacks with such flair. Many fans will see him as the surprise package in this illustrious line-up but he fully deserves his place.
Sergio Aguero | Manchester City & Argentina
He just edges out his compatriot Carlos Tevez based on his natural finishing. Both are similar players but his conversion rate is a lot better than his teammate’s.
He scored the goal that won his team the Premier League on the final day of last season and he always has a habit of scoring crucial goals. This campaign he hasn't been as prolific but 15 goals isn't a bad return considering he hasn't been on top form.
He is a hard-working powerful striker with excellent technical ability. He is very level headed and there is no doubt he will be a key figure in next season's title charge.
Robert Lewandowski | Borussia Dortmund & Poland
He is a tall elegant striker who leads the German scoring charts with 22 goals. He was instrumental in last season's league and cup double and he has helped his side to the Champions League semi-final.
He has great feet for a big player and he is often playing at a higher wavelength than others around him. His finishing is excellent, both on the floor and aerially as he has hit bags of goals of late. He has attracted a lot of interest especially in the Premier League. He is a wonderful talent who could grace any team in world football.
Luis Suarez | Liverpool & Uruguay
He is probably the best striker in the world on current form. He has hit 29 goals in all competitions with 22 of them coming in the Premier League. He not only scores goals for fun, he also creates several and causes a nuisance for all types of defenders.
The Uruguayan is known as a 'Marmite' player, you love him or you hate him as he has a very controversial personality. There is no doubting his natural ability and he is one of the few players who can single-handedly win a football match with his touches of class.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic | PSG & Sweden
He is another tall striker but also one of the most skilful. The things this man can do with a ball is outstanding and he has a ferocious strike which has seen him score 26 league goals in France. He has many domestic league titles to his name and is on course to get another with PSG.
He has won titles in Holland, Spain and Italy in his career and it's no coincidence with him leading the line. He is a scorer of spectacular goals too, ask Joe Hart as he bagged four match winning goals against England in a 4-2 win at the end of 2012.
Mario Gomez | Bayern Munich & Germany
He is a typical example of a goal scorer. His natural ability to finish is backed up by his statistics. He earned a big money move to Bayern from VFB Stuttgart after impressing in the Bundesliga.
He scores goals with both feet, his head and shoots with finesse as well as power. Along with Falcao and RVP he is probably the most natural scorer in world football at this time. His teamwork and all round game isn't quite as good as many others but when your team needs a goal, he is the man you can rely on.
Wayne Rooney | Manchester United & England
The striker has everything you could wish for in a centre forward. He scores goals; he links up play very well, gets assists and even helps out on the defensive side too.
His main attributes include his work rate and strength and his technical ability on the ball that makes him an obvious member in this selection. The only criticism is that he can be inconsistent, especially for his country, but there is no doubting his natural ability. He has been strongly linked with PSG lately but Manchester United must keep him as he is vital to their progression in the coming seasons.
Edinson Cavani | Napoli and Uruguay
He is the top goal scorer in Serie A with 22 goals and has been linked with Europe's elite clubs within the past two seasons. He is strong but lacks pace which he makes up with in his awareness and football brain. He fully deserves his place in the line-up and his value in the region of £40m shows his quality in itself.
